What’s not to love? This time the fashion week was shorter than usual, but I still had lots of fun, let’s take a look at my outfits. Shall we? Continue Reading

AW16 Custo Barcelona

February 20, 2016

Custo Barcelona once again lives up to its iconic style with the AW16 collection. Mixes of colors, graphics, fabrics and layers are present as ever in this cheerful presentation. It’s safe to say that over the years Custo has become more than just a fashion label, it’s a particular way of viewing life: the representation of a lifestyle.

Leopard prints, mohair, hippie trousers, Eastern inspired prints, sporty mesh, British checkers, graphic lines and feminine laces & ruffles: Custo sure loves to create an eclectic mix-up of everything that inspires the label. A continuous motive however, are the colorful patches and embellishments applied to the designs. Also we can see many sporty details as a consistent tendency throughout the collection. It’s fascinating to see that some of the outfits at first sight seem to be a layered combination of designs, but after a closer look, prove to be in fact one complete design with separately attached materials. This once again proves the constant search for innovative improvement and creativity of Custo. Whether you love it or hate it, no one can deny that this designer label has outstanding production techniques and lots of enthusiasm for cheerful fashion.

One of our favorite designs is the flared trousers with applied ruffles on the bottom in order to create movement while walking. Another great look is the transparent lace dress with a body underneath. Perhaps some of the looks on the catwalk might be quite intense for those who prefer a more casual style, but if you imagine combining Custo with your own wardrobe, it suddenly opens up so much fun styling possibilities! This label is without a doubt for the creative daredevils of society; do you think you’re up for it?

February 17, 2016

The name of the AW16/17 collection of WOM & NOW already shows the inspiration for this winter: ‘Bloomsbury Road’ is all about British Class. This road, located in London, has been the home to numerous historical institutions, gardens, and cultural spots for centuries now, and is known to be an area for the fashionable upper class. AW16 Justicia Ruano – ‘Orion’ Shines Bright on 080

February 14, 2016

Elegant lace and a rich combinations of textures: the Victorian trend is clearly the main inspiration from Justicia Ruano in her AW16/17 collection ‘Orion’. After many years of designing for big brands, the creative director decided to start her own label in 2009, with which she wants to reinvent her own interpretation of contemporary luxury and femininity. Justicia Ruano is known to spend a lot of time on the quality of her materials and the craftsmanship of the designs, which definitely shows in the final result!

Justicia Ruano13

Justicia Ruano10

As the designers likes to describe it herself, the collection ‘Orion’ is “a festival of fabrics with controlled volumes”. A returning motive is the use of vinyl in combination with Chantilly lace, which results in beautifully fragile designs. This soft femininity is contrasted with structured lurex, sending out the message of independency and strength. With black, dark purple and shiny copper & silver as dominating colors, we can find the connection to the star sign Orion: they are a reflection of a dark starry night. A subtle touch which also emphasizes the theme is the application of circles on the lace which used in many designs, could they represent stars?

Justicia Ruano12

Justicia Ruano3

Besides the fact that Justicia Ruano is 100% staying true to her individual style, she still manages to also stay completely in the trends for the upcoming winter with pleated skirts, shimmering materials, transparence and (faux) fur. And isn’t that exactly what makes a designer truly brilliant? It was hard to decide which one of the designs was the true showstopper of the collection, as many of her looks made quite an impression. Our favorites are the gracefully flowing purple dress and the copper blazer dress.

Justicia Ruano8   Justicia Ruano4 All in all it’s hard to categorize ‘Orion’: historical yet modern, fragile yet strong, subtle yet a statement, Justicia Ruano’s collection is the ultimate merge, the best of all worlds, or should we say it’s… ‘out of this world’?

080 BCN Fashion Week with Who is that Blonde

February 8, 2016

After Amsterdam and Paris, last week it was time for Barcelona Fashion Week! Better known as 080, this fashion week is all about offering a platform to upcoming designers and new talents such as Justicia Ruano and Krizia Robustella – two of my favorites shows this season! The first day started good when my outfit (and also Alex’ look!) immediately got noticed by Flash Moda from the Spanish national TV Channel as soon as I walked in! Down here you can see the part where I get interviewed, for the people that don’t speak Spanish: I’m explaining that I’m wearing desings from the local brands Valentina Garí and Maria Roch, and of course my beloved oldskool bag from Ruitertassen!

My favorite show to see that day  was Miquel Suay with an amazing menswear collection based around the concept of balanced infinity: elegant, graphic and comfortable! The second day was lots of fun: I met lots of amazing people and the shows were great! It started off with the catwalk presentation of Krizia Robustella, who brought back the hiphop 90’s on the song ‘no diggity‘. After that it was time for Punto Blanco to blow us away with underwear and pyjama’s based on the ‘Superman vs. Batman’ movie theme, sexy and fun at the same time: winner combination! My third favorite of this day was Sita Murt: an established brand which stands for timeless and classy femininity, what’s not to love?!

Today I was also spotted by the press, lucky me! I was asked for an interview for El Periodico (the national journal in Spain) to give my opinion on the 080 Fashion Week in comparisation to other fashion weeks like Paris and New York. They also loved to hear about my outfit, which was again completely from brands in Barcelona! I was wearing some very special trousers from Loretta Piovano in combination with my navy blue coat of Maria Roch and the most adorable clutch from Sarah’s Bag which I scored at Passage BCN! Check out the short article here:

Also I was very happy to meet one of my favorite models backstage one of the shows: Zhenya Katava! Isn’t she gorgeous?! 12695619_10153545820413250_1261466377_o

My last day at 080 I was wearing this beautiful velvet 70’s outfit from Ay Si! Barcelona in combination with my body from Boohoo.com and the most adorable bag from Les Petites Joueurs which I got from Passage BCN. I just LOVE everything about this outfit, don’t you?! Also, I was very lucky to spot the model Sam Steele – the shining star of the Punto Blanco show – in the photobooth in between shows and take a quick snapshot with him, oh my goodness!

It is hard to chose my favorite shows from this day because there were just so many good ones! Of course there was the most important show of 080: Custo Barcelona, which was happy as always with many colors, patterns and textures. However, I might prefer some of the smaller designers such as WOM & NOW, Lebor Gabala and Justicia Ruano. Why you might ask? Probably because I wanted to wear pretty much every one of their designs when I saw them walking down the runway, and the styling of the looks was simply amazing!! Even though 080 was missing two of their biggest catwalk presentations this season (Mango and Desigual both decided not to show this time), there was still more than enough talent to admire these days!

Unfortunately I couldn’t visit the last two days of 080 because I was busy shooting an editorial, which is going to be supercool by the way! Anyway, I can’t wait for next season, when I will be able to show off my summer outfits!

Lots of Love,

Lynn
